Schaschlik is a Skewer of Meat and Vegetables traditionally served at German Fairs or local Snack Bars / Stalls. Below is the recipe for the traditional sauce that is served with the skewers. This sauce is also delicious as a pour over sauce for grilled chicken or pork.
Schaschlik Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/ ltr Chicken or Veg Stock
- 75 ml Honey
- 50 ml Cider Vinegar
- 1 Tube Tomato Puree
- 40 ml Worcester Sauce
- A few splashes Tabasco
- 1 ½ tbsp Paprika
- ½ tbsp Curry Powder
- 1 Red Pepper
- 3 medium Onions
Instructions
- Chop the onions and red pepper into small cube fry in some vegetable oil until slightly browned. Add the chicken stock and then all other ingredients. Simmer until the onions and pepper are soft.
- A traditional sauce to pour over pork or chicken kebabs. Alternatively simmer the kebabs in the sauce.
